Success at Canzine
Seneca students had a big presence at Canada’s largest festival of zines and underground culture at the Art Gallery of Ontario this past Saturday September 17, 2018. The Canzine Festival of Zines and Underground Culture was first held in Toronto in 1995. Since its inception, Canzine has displayed thousands of zines (self-published books) and small press works and hosted hundreds of writers and visual artists. This year, there were over 200 vendors including 10 current and past students of Seneca’s illustration diploma. In addition, Seneca hosted a live comics jam with current students (pictured right to left) Stephanie Brennan, Noah Shuman, Giuseppe Malabed and guided by visual artist Naz Rahbar. Seneca is the national school sponsor of Canzines across Canada, with iterations later this fall in Ottawa, Calgary and Vancouver.
