Art Toronto

Work by Rirkrit Tiravanija and Xiaojing Yan in Beyond Geography

Toronto International Art Fair returned for its 14th year at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre from October 25th–October 28th, 2013 showcasing magnificent contemporary art from Canada and around the world. Art Toronto will showcase over 110 galleries representing 13 countries. Widely acknowledged as an essential platform for networking in the Canadian visual arts community, Art Toronto brings together collectors, curators, artists and galleries from across Canada and around the world.

Besides all the works on the walls and floors and floating above the attendees was a speaker series.  Of particular enjoyment was the talk Sunday afternoon by “Life of a Crap Head” and Diane Borsato, performance artists with different approaches to their craft.  They focused on performance within the context of an institution, bringing a new, sometimes opposing, most often unexpected element.  This talk brought the much needed conceptual element into the fair.

Always a highlight of the art in Toronto scene, the Toronto International Art Fair does not disappoint!
